For the first Military Family Spotlight, I am honored to share the story of the Mulholland family.

Over the course of 25 combined years of military service, Meghan and John have built a life shaped by service, leadership, and a commitment to the people around them. Their journey reflects the experiences of so many military families who spend years moving, adapting, and building community wherever they are stationed.

Meghan’s path has included many roles: retired Army veteran, nurse, military spouse, volunteer, foster parent, and mother of three.
Throughout each chapter, she has found ways to support those around her. From volunteering with PTSAs and supporting military families to helping with unit organizations and SFRGs, Meghan has consistently created spaces where people feel welcomed and connected. Her impact can be seen in the countless friendships and relationships she has built along the way.
LTC John Mulholland recently retired after 21 years of distinguished service in the U.S. Army, finishing his career with the 2nd Cavalry Regiment. Following in his father’s footsteps, John dedicated more than two decades to serving his country and leading others throughout his career.
Together, Meghan and John have experienced the many seasons of military life. They have moved six times, raised their three children across different duty stations, and embraced the challenges and adventures that come with building a home wherever the Army sends them.
When asked what she loves most about the Army, Meghan shared that it is the friendships that come from it. The Army has a unique way of creating connections that last far beyond a single assignment. Years can pass, locations can change, but those friendships remain, and there are still people around the world who would open their doors without hesitation.
As the Mulholland family prepared for their next chapter in Portugal, they invited me into their home during their final days before the move. It was an opportunity to document the real, everyday moments of a military move: the boxes, the transition, the emotions, and the memories that come with leaving behind a place that has been home.
Their next adventure marks a new beginning, but the legacy they leave behind is one of service, kindness, and connection. The impact Meghan and John have made within their communities will continue through the many people who have had the privilege of knowing them.
Thank you, Meghan and John, for your years of service, your leadership, and the example you have set for your family and community. It was an honor to document this transition and celebrate this exciting new chapter with you.
